Fish Ball Sauce Recipe

This is as close as you'll get to manong's secret recipe!

You can now make your homemade fishballs taste as close to the street food version as possible with this sweet sauce recipe. Plus, if you love it spicy, all you have to do is stir in some chopped siling labuyo or dried red chili flakes for that hit of heat!

Ingredients
  

Fish Ball Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup oyster sauce
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons rice flour or cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup water
  • bird’s eye chili (siling labuyo) chopped (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepot over medium heat, combine oyster sauce, water, and sugar. Bring to a simmer, stirring, until the sugar is completely dissolved. 
  • Pour in rice flour mixture and bring back to a simmer. Cook, stirring until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat. Cool completely. Serve with homemade or store-bought fish balls.
