Ginataang Tanigue (Spanish Mackerel in Coconut Milk) Ingredients

  • 3 pieces tanigue (Spanish mackerel) use tanigue steaks
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 tablspoon Garlic chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white onion chopped
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons ginger sliced
  • 1/4 Cup Leeks sliced into 1 1/2-inch sticks
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce (patis)
  • 1 piece green chili (siling tagalog)
  • 1/2 Cup coconut milk (gata)
  • 1/2 Cup coconut cream (kakang gata)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil on a pan over medium heat, then sauté garlic, onions, ginger and leeks. Add patis (fish sauce) and green chili then bring to a boil.
  • Pour in coconut milk and coconut cream and bring to a simmer. Add the fish steaks and cook for 5-6 minutes per side or until cooked through. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
