Lumpiang Shanghai with Cheese Ingredients

  • 1/2 kilo lean ground pork
  • 1/4 kiilo shrimps finely chopped
  • 1 190-gram block mozzarella cheese cut into thin strips
  • 1 medium red onion peeled, finely chopped
  • 1/2 head Garlic peeled, finely chopped
  • 1 large carrot shredded
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 20 to 25 large lumpia wrapper or spring roll wrapper
  • Salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • cooking oil for deep-frying (such as vegetable, corn, canola, or peanut oil) for frying
  • water for sealing lumpia
  • Sweet chili sauce to serve


  • Make the lumpia filling: In a bowl, mix ground pork, chopped shrimps, cheese, onion, garlic, carrot, egg, and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Assemble the lumpia: Place 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons filling on one side of wrapper and wrap tightly, secure wrapper by lightly dabbing water on wrapper edge.
  • In a wok, heat oil over medium heat and deep fry lumpia at medium to low heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until wrapper turns to golden brown and filling is cooked. Serve with sweet chili sauce.
