Matcha Cupcakes with Frosting

  • 1 (200-gram) package butter cake mix
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons matcha (green tea) powder
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 4 tablespoons cream
  • 1 tablespoon matcha (green tea) powder
  • 2 1/4 cups confectioners sugar sifted
  • matcha (green tea) powder


  • Prepare butter cake mix according to package directions.
  • Add matcha powder to the batter and mix well.
  • Fill each muffin cup with batter until two-thirds full. Bake according to package directions.
  • Make the frosting: Using an electric mixer, beat butter with cream. Add matcha powder and sifted confectioners’ sugar; beat until smooth. Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes. Dust with matcha powder, if desired.
