Ingredients
  

Monte Cristo Sandwich

  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 Cup milk
  • Salt
  • 6 slices sliced bread
  • 6 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 6 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 6 slices ham
  • 6 slices swiss cheese (you may also use mozzarella or Cheddar cheese)

Instructions
 

  • Combine egg and milk in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper; set aside.
  • Take sandwich bread slices; spread 1 teaspoon mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard on each slice. Sandwich 2 slices ham and 2 slices Swiss cheese between 2 slices of bread. Repeat to make a total of 3 sandwiches.
  • Heat a cast iron pan over medium-high heat. Quickly dip one sandwich in the egg and milk mixture until well coated. Grill sandwich for 2 minutes on each side or until cheese has melted. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
  • Slice each sandwich in half and serve with potato chips, if desired.
