There are only two things to remember to ensure the success of this dish—the pasta should be perfectly al dente and it must be served fresh off the pan.

Ingredients
  

Pasta with Garlic and Shrimp Paste

  • 300 Grams spaghetti noodles
  • 50 Grams Butter
  • 1 and 1/2 tablespoons Garlic minced
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons Thai shrimp paste
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Pepper to taste
  • Cayenne pepper (Optional)
  • fresh basil leaves Chopped, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Cook spaghetti in a pot of briskly boiling water. to get al dente pasta, cook 1 to 2 minutes less than package directions.
  • Halfway through cooking the pasta, start preparing the rest of the dish. melt butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add garlic; cook until fragrant but not browned. Mix in shrimp paste and olive oil, then immediately add cooked pasta. Toss well. season with salt and pepper. Add cayenne pepper to taste, if desired. Garnish with basil.
