Ingredients
Pork Chops with Onion Jam
- 5 (180-gram) pieces pork use skinless pork chops
- 1 tablespoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil divided
- 4 white onion sliced thinly
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 4 tablespoons honey
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon Butter
Instructions
- Season pork chops with salt and pepper. marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Heat half the oil in a large cast iron or heavy-bottomed pan. Sear 2 to 3 pieces pork chops for about 3 minutes on each side or until brown and cooked through. make sure to brown the fat as well. Set aside and keep warm.
- Using the same pan, add remaining oil if necessary and sear the remaining pork chops. Set aside and keep warm.
- In the same pan, sauté onions until translucent. Deglaze with balsamic vinegar. Add honey and continue to cook over low-medium heat until onions reach a jam-like consistency. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Add butter and mix well.
- Arrange pork chops in a baking dish. Spread onion jam over the pork chops and bake in a preheated 350° oven for 15 minutes, or in a turbo broiler at the same temperature for the same amount of time.
