The minatamis na saging is one of the easiest fruit desserts you can make! It's so simple that it's the perfect dessert to make even better with a few additions. Add ice and it's suddenly transformed into a saba con yelo. But first, what is a minatamis na saging or sweetened bananas anyway?

What Is Minatamis Na Saging

A minatamis na saging is a simple dessert made of bananas cooked in sugar syrup. It's literally just three ingredients (saba bananas, sugar, and water) simmered together until the fruit is tender and has absorbed the sweetened and thickened syrup that is created.

Some might flavor the water with pandan leaves or screwpine leaves first to give it an amazing aroma that's quite similar to vanilla. Some might pour over some evaporated milk to give the syrup a creaminess that's addicting. There are even those who add ice cubes or crushed ice to the bowls with the banana chunks and syrup to keep it ice-cold during the hot dry season. This simple addition of ice instantly makes it into a saba con yelo

The ice may make this saba con yelo extra appetizing, but those who are already familiar with the dessert may want something different for their next bowl. Why not try the bananas with some small sago pearls and give it crunch with a topping of cornflakes?
