Sinigang gets a makeover in this saucy version!
1 table spoon tamarind base powder (sinigang mix)
1 1/2 cups water
1 piece onion, peeled, quartered
In a stockpot over low heat, dissolve the mix into the water. Bring to a boil and then lower heat to a simmer. Add onions then labanos, and simmer until just about cooked. Add in shrimps, and simmer again until just heated through.
Slowly pour in cornstarch mixture, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Add in okra and strings beans, and cook until sauce thickens and vegetables are heated through. Spoon over steamed white rice and serve.
