Smoked Bacon and Macaroni Casserole

Cook macaroni pasta according to package directions.

Fry bacon in its own fat until crisp. Drain on paper towels, then crumble. Sauté onion rings in oil.  Set both aside.

In a bowl, mix cooked macaroni, basil, pepper, salt, cream of mushroom, crumbled bacon, and half of the cooked onion rings. Add grated cheese (leave some for topping). Transfer mixture to a buttered casserole.

Bake, covered, at 350ºF for 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven. Top with the rest of the onion rings, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Bake again for a couple of minutes, uncovered, until cheeses melt.
