Spaghetti in Meat Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 Pack spaghetti (500 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 Small red onion peeled, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic peeled, chopped
  • 1 Small carrot scrubbed, finely chopped
  • 1/2 kilo Ground beef
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (around 800 grams)
  • water as needed
  • Salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • parmesan cheese to serve


  • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain, and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, in a large sauté pan over medium heat, heat oil. Add and sauté onion, then garlic until fragrant. Add carrots and ground beef, and sear before crumbling meat. Cook until browned.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add diced tomatoes and bring to a boil. Simmer until tomatoes have thickened slightly. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • To serve, toss pasta with meat sauce, and top with Parmesan cheese. Recipe originally published in the June 2017 issue of Good Housekeeping.
