Spicy Ginataang Hipon Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium red onion chopped
  • 6 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 piece (1 1/2 inch) ginger sliced into thin strips
  • 3 pieces green finger chilies (siling mahaba) sliced in half
  • 3 pieces red birds eye chilies (siling labuyo) sliced in half
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons shrimp paste (bagoong alamang)
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 500 Grams medium shrimp cleaned
  • 100 Grams string beans (sitaw) sliced into 2 1/2-inch pieces


  • Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté onions, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  • Add chilies and cook for 1 minute. Add bagoong and sauté for 1 more minute.
  • Add coconut milk and simmer until the desired consistency is achieved.
  • Add shrimps and simmer until cooked. Add string beans and cook for 2 minutes. Serve hot.
