Strawberry Chocolate Chip Bars

Preheat oven to 325ºF.

Make the crust: In a bowl, combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add vanilla and lightly moisten the crumb mixture with the beaten egg.

Reserve 3/4 cup of the crumb mixture. Press down remaining mixture onto a 9x9-inch square pan. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Press down remaining mixture onto a 9x9-inch square pan. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.

Spread strawberry jam, top with remaining crust mixture. Bake again for another 30 to 35 minutes.

Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and bake for another 5 minutes or until chocolate chips become glossy and a bit melted.
