What are your food habits that changed since the pandemic started a year ago? At some point during this ongoing pandemic, we found comfort and convenience through food delivery service applications like GrabFood.

Based on the data provided by Grab, the top three reasons why people opted to have food delivered are:

  • 1. To satisfy cravings for food they can’t cook.
  • 2. There’s no time to cook.
  • 3. There’s no need to worry about traffic and parking.

According to the report, pizza, cakes, and pasta are some of the favorite meals that consumers are not able to cook at home. The common reasons are because these food are time-consuming, they lack the necessary equipment at home (like an oven for pizza!), and it’s difficult to cook at home.

The report says that people ordered more for dinner, lunch, and merienda. What are people ordering?

Grab says pizza was searched for more than 6,000,000 (yes, six million!) times on GrabFood in 2020 alone! Since cake is also part of the list, it only makes sense that orders for cake in 2020 increased by 2.6x compared to 2019.
