You Should Make This Delicious Pinoy-Inspired Bread Pudding This Christmas

It has ensaymada and queso de bola!

It’s not hard to find desserts that resonate with Filipinos After all, we love anything sweet and our desserts are a testament to that.

But what we love just as much are the flavor combinations of sweet and salty. Take the ensaymada: it’s a pillowy soft bread (not unlike the egg brioche) that is first slathered with salty butter before being sprinkled with sugar and finally, topped with a mound of grated cheddar cheese. It’s this ultimate sweet-salty combo in a dessert or merienda that makes us go back for more after that first mouth-watering bite.

That’s why we think bread pudding made with ensaymada is just perfect. Not only does it use ensaymada as the bread but it also plays with your taste buds with its gentle dusting of grated queso de bola, sugar, and cinnamon topping.

This bread pudding is made of torn ensaimada chunks and topped with queso de bola and drizzled with dulce de leche. What’s not to love?
